Frequently Asked Questions About Cabinet Hardware

We’ve compiled a list of the questions that are most frequently asked of our customer service team.  Here, you’ll find answers to many common cabinet hardware questions.

I just ordered my cabinet pulls.  When can I expect them to arrive?

We try to keep all of our cabinet hardware products in stock and we general have over 95% of the items for immediately delivery.  Assuming that we have your cabinet pulls, it will take us one day to process your order and about four days for the pulls to arrive.  If you’ve ordered cabinet pulls or other cabinet hardware from Anne at Home, your order will take a bit longer since these are custom orders.  If any of your cabinet pulls are backordered, we’ll ship out what we have in stock and will then ship the rest as the order arrives.  This will usually take a total of 7-10 business days, and you won’t be charged any extra for the split delivery.  If you need your cabinet pulls absolutely immediately, please speak with our customer service center at 800-530-TAIL(8245) for expedited shipping.

How will my new cabinet knobs be shipped?

We ship all orders via FedEx, UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail. In the continental U.S., orders over $100 that come from one warehouse receive free shipping and orders under $100 ship for only $7.50. Please see our Shipping and Return Policies page for more detailed information about our free shipping offer.

I live in Puerto Rico and I’m wondering if you will ship to me.

We ship our cabinet hardware and other products to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands via USPS Priority Mail. For additional information and shipping quotes, please call our customer service center at 800-530-TAIL(8245).

I live in Canada and I’m interested in purchasing your cabinet hardware. Can I pay for my order in Canadian dollars?

You should know that we aren’t shipping directly to Canada at this point. You’ll have to have your cabinet hardware order shipped to the United States, and we only accept U.S. dollars.

Why are some drill center measurements for cabinet knobs and cabinet pulls listed in inches, while others are listed in millimeters?

American companies measure drill centers in inches while European companies use millimeters. 3 inch or 5 inch drill centers are standard US options, and 96mm (approximately 3¾ inches) is the European standard.

How can I convert from inches to millimeters and vice versa?

To convert millimeters to inches, divide the number of millimeters by 25.4.
To convert inches to millimeters, multiply the number of inches by 25.4.

Is it better to buy my cabinet pulls or handles with standard drill centers?

It is equally easy to install cabinet pulls with both standard drill centers and nonstandard measurements. If you are renovating, then it’s certainly easiest to figure out what your present drill center is and to purchase new cabinet pulls with the same drill center.  If you are purchasing cabinet pulls for a new project, then it’s simply a question of what you’ll want for future use.  When you purchase cabinet pulls with standard size drill centers, you leave yourself with more options in the future, should you decide to replace the cabinet hardware.

I need five pairs of hinges; should I place 5 or 10 in my cart?

Unless otherwise stated, hinges are sold in pairs.  If you need 5 pairs of hinges, then you’ll probably only need to place 5 items into your cart.  If you see that the hinges are sold separately, as noted on the product page, then you’ll need to place 10 individual hinges in your cart.

I just purchased cabinet knobs.  Do they come with screws?

1" screws come standard with all cabinet hardware from Modular Kitchen Cabinets, but if you need different screws, you can receive them easily by calling our customer service department and requesting them.

I’m trying to decide whether I want nickel or stainless steel cabinet knobs.  How should I make this decision, when they look so similar?

At first glance, many of the hardware finishes look very similar.  What distinguishes them, however, is that each metal finish boasts its own unique properties and its own advantages for kitchen use. Each finish also has a slightly different metallic hue that may make a dramatic difference within your space. For a comprehensive explanation of the different metal finishes, please refer to our Guide to Metal Finishes.
